Hi Fellers,
Great to see letterpress is alive and well down there. It ain't new of course John Wells and later his daughter Susannah were both into printing a local (St Augustine) newspaper in those brief years of the English colony of East Florida. He was of course a Loyalist, and had previously printed a newspaper in either Savannah or Charleston. When the English left Fla in 1783, his press went with him to Nassau. (Where my family also went.) He printed the local paper there, until after much persuasion he returned to Charleston and restarted the paper. After he died, his wife and then daughter kept it going until Susannah came to England (see her book) and married a very famous bookseller R. Aickman. See my website so see what I do. There are relations of mine still in Fla. They do know the real story of the Loyalists, not the version taught in schools.

warmest regards and best wishes from
England,

Yeah, their accents sound somewhat similar, but not nearly as severe, as Jamaican accents. Jamaican accents can be long and drawn out, at times staccato and rapid. Bahamian accents are a bit softer, almost watered down, I'd say cause of all the American tourists that dominate the landscape.

If a position opens up in the Grammar Nerdary you'll be the first to know!

i haven't been to the bahamas in a few years, but when i was there last i don't remember the natives speaking with jamaican accents. so the fact that the condom sign is written in jamaican vernacular makes it even more funny. "ya tings".. too good.
all that being said.. i hate you (read: jealous of you) and i want to trade lives. i could be your grammar nerd for annalemma? take me away from the government, chris!
